"... I was my own grandfather."

‘I married a widow who had a grown-up daughter. My father visited our house very often, fell in love with my stepdaughter, and married her. So my father became my son-in law, and my step-daughter my mother, because she was my father’s wife. Some time afterwards, my wife gave birth to a son; he was my father’s brother-in-law, and my uncle, for he was the brother of my step-mother. My father’s wife — i.e. my step-daughter — had also a son; he was, of course, my brother, and in the mean time my grandchild, for he was the son of my daughter. My wife was my grandmother, because she was my mother’s mother. I was my wife’s husband and the grandchild at the same time. And as the husband of a person’s grandmother is his grandfather, I was my own grandfather.’

The Monster Within

There's a monster in everyone, but others are too scared to release it.. Or maybe they just need a trigger.

The Butterfly Effect - The Confusion

Recently I watched the movie The Butterfly Effect. Now, before you read any further, I would like to say I haven't watched the sequels to this. I have only seen the first one yet, so it may be possible that my curiosities will be answered by the sequels. But anyway, let me just note down the couple of questions I had just after finishing the movie.

The first point relates to the blackouts that Evan have. Why did he have the blackouts in the first place? Was it because he travelled back in time in those particular moments? However you have to note that he reads those particular moments in life when he had the blackouts to travel in time. And after the blackouts occur, the events that occur right after the blackout corresponded to the events right after the when he time travels. So the events occurring right after the blackouts are, in fact, the events which occur after he tries to change them. So when he grows up, he tries to change the same events that had already changed when travelled before. So how does the different timelines occur? I am sure you can already feel the confusion even while reading this and I haven't even finished my first point yet.

Another question linking to the same point made above: How did his life turn out so that he discovered about time travel before he learnt about his powers of time travel? I mean, this is the third timeline he is getting ( the stillborns in his mother?) We are not even told what happens the in the first timeline.

The second point relates to the stillborn. The mother had 2 stillborns BEFORE the current timeline. At the end, in this timeline, there was 3. So assuming all the stillborns were Evan, then this would mean that the current is the 3rd time he has born. So how does he get born again over and over? Did his father Jason has something to do with this through his own power of time travel? If so, then would it mean that Evan will born yet again because Jason would interfere? I have no idea if the points I am making are even reasonable, but if my reasoning is true then it means that this cycle of Evan being born, then travelling back to when his mother was pregnant, getting still born and then getting birth again will continue forever, with the mother obviously suffering the most.

Anyway, I hope what I have written makes sense. If you haven't yet watched this movie, I highly recommend it to you.

No Advice

Sometimes the best advice in life is no advice. Because it shows that there is no easy way to get anything in life.

However, isn't this statement itself an advice? If so, is it even possible to have 'no advice' at all?

Introduction to the New World

My eyes were hurting. A glimmer of sunlight was on my face. I saw a train moving. In front of it was another train. Not moving. I waited for the inevitable crash. But to my horror, the moving train passed right through it.

You must have seen ghost cartoons. Sometimes also happens in horror movies. The ghost moves right through the wall. Except here it happened right in front of my eyes. The moving train had gone through the stationary train just like a ghost goes through the wall. Another train whoozed through it. The shock of the first train hadn't even worn out. My mouth was left hanging open. The glass of trains were translucent. Hell, the trains themselves seemed as if they were empty. Were they really ghost trains capable of travelling on their own? Where were they going?

Suddenly I heard a barking of a dog. I looked behind and saw a dog running towards me. Ahead of him was a huge man, who looked like a police officer. At first, I was stuck on the ground. My feet were shaking. They were closing in. Without thinking, I started to run.

I ran as fast as my small legs could move. I was about to reach the place where the stationary trains stood. There were three of them. Luckily one of them was open from behind. I jumped on it and started running on top of it. By this time, I had managed to get a distance between myself and the police.

That was the moment I saw some gold coin-like things floating in the air. I had no idea what it was. But since they were gold, I simply picked them up. Another right ahead. I picked it up. There were four of them in total. Then I saw some more ahead. By this time the police officer was keeping constant distance between me and himself.

That was when I saw a barrier placed on the tracks. Who in their right minds would place barriers on rail tracks? But, who cares? The moving trains are not even solid. In my thoughts, I didn't even notice that I was almost reaching the barrier. I jumped in the last minute and stumbled upon the barrier. I lost my balance but managed to keep to on. However the police had almost caught up..

I started my running again. Everything seemed faster. Trains whoozing by me. I kept running and running. The police and the dog remained on my tail.

I don't know what happened, but suddenly I got hit by a moving train. Why it didn't pass through me, I have no idea. I had thought they were ghost trains. But who cares? Most of you would have met their end when hit with that force. But me? The next moment, I was standing near a wall with a spray can.

That's the way I got introduced to the world of subway surfers.

Scraps Collection

Dear reader, if you are reading this you have come across the very first piece of this collection. Depending on when you are reading this, this will be the very first piece of a few or very first piece of the many pieces that I would have written or in progress of writing. By the time you are reading this, you will most likely have already figured out what this collection is about. Or maybe not. You might just have noticed that it is about nothing specific. You might have found out that it contains puzzles, or quotes, or even whole stories. Some things completely useless, some things not so much, however all amusing, interesting or puzzling. Isn't that what life is about?

No way will you be able to figure out my character from the pieces in my collection. They will range in such diversity that you will not be able to form any single conclusion. The collection will be a mystery just like my identity. Or maybe that's just my character. A mystery.

When a random thought just occurs in my mind, when I listen, read, watch something interesting, when I learn something new, you will find it added in this collection which has unlimited space. After all, it is a collection of scrap.

No way can I be sure that whatever I write will interest you all. Neither can I be sure that you will be interested in all I write. You might just want to skip on some pieces. However, it will be an achievement if I am able to interest you in areas where you had no interest previously. It will also be an achievement if you learn anything from this collection.

If you find anything you can add to particular piece, question it, or even disagree with it, you can always add a note to the piece. I will try my very best to respond to it. Just like the unlimited space to add pieces in this collection, it also possible to add unlimited notes to a particular piece. So do not hesitate to add any note to any of the pieces, however old they may be.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in a particular piece or even this entire collection, be sure to recommend it to them by sharing it with them, and advise them to share it with their friends, who will share with their friends and so on. Then we can be a group of friends. This will take time. However if a collection like this can bring a group of friends together, waiting is worth it.

I hope you enjoy this quest of collecting with me. You can always come back for more if you are already through with the current collection. Thank you for reading this first piece and I hope you return to check our more.

Thank you,
Yours sincerely,
The Scrap Collector.
